TRUTH SEEKING RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW

I am calling this first devotional series…. TRUTH SEEKING

Because while I may do a lot of figurative speaking, I am truly Truth seeking.

As you can tell by now, I love figurative language. Maybe it’s the ELA teacher in me or the writer. Whatever it is…

I love THE TRUTH, GOD’S TRUTH so much more!

Many of us use figurative language every day. In fact, last summer I noticed that my own kids, just 4 and 7 at the time, used it too.

From the hyperboles like…

“This is taking a million years.” &  “I’m starving.”

to the similes & metaphors like…

“You are as slow as a tortoise.” & “I’m a fish.”

They use them. We use them.

Therefore, I taught my kids words like hyperbole and simile. I could tell they were so proud that they knew such cool, grownup words that my middle school students were learning too.

But if you know me, you also know it made me think.

I loved seeing how excited they got to learn. I mean the possibilities of knowledge are endless, right?

But that’s figuratively speaking…. What about the straight Truth!

God’s Truth! God’s words!

Do we use them? Do they use them?

Do we know them? Do they know them? Once we know some, do we continue to press on & learn more?

Therefore, those questions led me to pray that we would become more excited to learn the Word of God because that’s where the possibilities are endless and the promises are eternal. Sure, there is figurative language all throughout the Bible too. I am not saying there is not. However, it is embedded in His truths.

His Word is Truth (John 17:17)

It applies to everything! Therefore, may we walk with them in our steps and store them in our hearts.

“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John‬ ‭8:31-32‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

That is where this series came from.

It is simply using figurative language and phrases to seek God in the every day moments.

It is about taking those everyday moments that can get messy and using them as opportunities to grow beautifully in God’s truths,

RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW.

So starting this week, there will be a new devotional on this topic weekly. While each title may speak figuratively, I pray and SEEK God to cover their messages in Truth!

I hope you’ll follow along in my journey to seek the Truth in even the every day moments.

It may be an imperfect ride.

It may get messy.

It will get real.

But I promise to be authentic.

So, come and follow along as I follow Christ in faith every day… living and learning to seek the Truth and walk with

EVERY DAY FAITH
