Busyness can be a distraction. It can make us feel like we are being productive but busy does not always mean productive. Think of Eve, Martha and David and how they faltered in their distractions. Now, think of Nehemiah and how despite many distractions, he continued on with what he was called to do, rebuilding the wall around Jerusalem. Let’s be like Nehemiah and build an atmosphere of resting and trusting in the Lord. Let’s keep our eyes fixed on what matters… on what we may not necessarily see… on eternity. “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:18)
How? Let’s turn to God and His faithful Word. Let’s talk to God prayer by prayer, step by step. Prayer is that continual and honest conversation with God. This devotional and its resources are designed to come alongside us as we talk to God and make “slowing down the new busy.” Each section of this booklet focuses on a different way and reason to pause, pray and pivot if need be.
