No New Tricks

Like the saying,

“You can't teach an old dog new tricks,”

the enemy is the same.

So stand in God’s Truth

and declare His mighty name.

#Jesus

I had medical anxiety after having my daughter almost 6 years ago. It came after a miscarriage and already having undiagnosed post traumatic stress disorder from my son’s initial analphyalcyic disorder a couple years beforehand. Therefore, it was a perfect, or not-so-perfect storm that postpartum anxiety joined in with.

I ran from doctor to doctor.

I got more and more information. Most of which conflicted.

I spiraled.

I was terrified.

I truly thought I was dying and no one could convince me otherwise.

I put everything I had into being “happy” and who my kids needed. However, when the nights hit or when I was alone even for a moment, I crumbled to the fears. You see I did not know to seek the Lord. I would cry out to Him and beg Him to save me … but I never listened.

The enemy was having a field day with me and in my life and even my marriage. But God. Beautiful people like my father-in-law and a couple pastors would speak truth to me.

God’s Truth

They gave me devotionals and even my first Bibles. And healing started to come. True healing…

But it started in God’s presence and pressed into where He was leading me. For one thing, He led me to a great therapist after a couple who were not good fits. He sent me messages through others that spoke to my heart and transformational moments that soften my heart and strengthened my walk.

I was healed from anxiety in my thirties after decades. Then, flash forward 5.5 years later… I was blessed to be pregnant again at the age of 39 free of anxiety for the first time.

Praise God!

But that didn’t make me invisible to the enemy. He tried at me again and I do plan to continue to share more about this.

The devil tried to steal my joy and peace.

But no one can do that!

You see the devil has no new tricks.

But it won’t stop him. Therefore, we must recognize it. We must declare what it is for what it is. And we must rebuke it and speak God’s Truth over it.

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (‭‭James‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

The enemy may even pretend he is not fleeing after he starts out the door. I mean he has been known to break a window or two on the way out. However, he will flee. Once again…

He has no new tricks.

He does not have the power and authority. God holds that.

Jesus defeated all evil.So let’s remind the enemy of that today and put him in his place. And if and when he makes a ruckus on the way out, let’s remain in God’s peace knowing the Truth.

God is greater!

God is working!

It is finished and done!

It is won… in the name of Jesus

right here and right now.

What are you declaring Truth over today? Remember God holds all authority. If the devil is yapping away, it is because he wants us to forget that. In my personal experience, that usually means he knows there is a blessing right around the corner. Stand firm and speak life. Pray over it. Praise God through it. Pierce the enemy’s ears with that praise. Declare life over the situation with phrases like:

Thank You Lord.

Jesus already won!

I am victorious in Christ.

Fear is not welcomed here.

Or when the words escape you: simply say: Jesus!

“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭18:21‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

“The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven.” (‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭28:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

Dear God,

Thank You Jesus. You won. You defeated it all. The enemy has nothing on You and Your mighty hand. Today I come to You and give it all to You. I resist the urge to cave into fear. Flee devil flee. There is no room for you here. I command you gone satan with a little s and I declare blessings over the lives of my loved ones and friends. Help those who just had babies and are healing. I pray for the mamas who are experiencing postpartum depression or anxiety. I pray for those who have experienced loss. Align their lives and paths with the help that they need and the people who will lift them up and to You. Give them strength and courage. May they know how beautiful they are even in these times and trials. You are working beauty from the ashes and beauty from the most broken of places. You get all the glory Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
