Anxiety & Grace Don’t Mix

With the start of daycare coming up next week, I must admit that while my mind is in such a better place than ever before, it still has a way to go.   Therefore, while advocating for TJ in my now permanent crazy mom shoes and the start of a new school year, I have allowed crazy anxiety to slip in through the cracks.  While I have struggled with anxiety at other stages of my life, this time has been the most intense, causing symptoms that I honestly did not know or forgot could happen. Migraines, loss of feelings in limbs, tension and pain in muscles, blurred vision, inability to focus, impending doom, and the list goes on.

However, on the way to work yesterday, I heard something on the Christian station that I listen to and it really connected to my situation.  Since  I was driving and could not write it down exactly, here is the gist.

Anxiety says that the worst thing that can happen will but grace says the best thing that can happen will.  You can’t have both.

It reminded me of just that: I can’t have both.  Therefore, there’s no debate.  I choose grace.  I choose faith.  I choose prayer with belief.  I choose to smile on…

“From where I’m standing
Lord it’s so hard for me to see
Where this is going
And where You’re leading me
I wish I knew how
All my fears and all my questions
Are gonna play out
In a world I can’t control…

..From where You’re standing
Lord, You see a grand design
That You imagined
When You breathed me into life
And all the chaos
Comes together in Your hands
Like a masterpiece
Of Your picture perfect plan”

Thank you Casting Crowns
